What is LCD and how does it work?
LCD or Liquid crystal display technology is an ideal display technology for many applications. LCD technology is commonly seen in computers, mobile phones, notebooks due to its low profile.
Compared to other display technologies such as LED and older CRT, LCD can be made in much higher resolutions for minimal added cost.
Unlike LED, LCD doesn't require content be made especially for each display footprint. This means content is much more simple to design.
Thin film transistors are part of every pixel. These transistors are connected to a data bus meaning the display controller can address each pixel independently.
These transistors allow the state of the liquid crystal substrate to be changed rapidly. This creates fast response times and allows for smooth motion on the display.
